BRITISH WHEEL OF YOGA FOUNDATION COURSE 1

The next Yoga Foundation Course will run from 22 September 2007 to 5 April 2008, in Tooting, London SW17. This will be the fourth Yoga Foundation Course run by Julia. If you are interested please get in touch without delay.

This is a structured, practical yoga foundation course of ten, one-day sessions for students who wish to deepen their personal practice and understanding of Yoga, or for those considering British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) teacher training.

The course content includes: methods of preparing for practice, exploration of asanas, pranayama, mudras, concentration and meditation, relaxation, chanting, and background and philosophy of yoga.

The Yoga Foundation Course is taught by a mixture of talks, discussion, demonstration and practical sessions. Throughout the duration of the course students will be required to keep a yoga practice diary.

The course content has been approved by The British Wheel of Yoga, and the Tutor, Julia Wheatley, holds the British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma. She has been teaching since 1989.

On completion of the Yoga Foundation Course a Certificate of Attendance will be awarded. A minimum of 80% attendance is required in order to receive the Certificate. Please note that the Certificate of Attendance is not a teaching qualification, but it would be advantageous for those students who wish to go on to join a BWY Diploma Course (teacher training). Although completion of the Yoga Foundation Course is not yet a requirement for the Diploma Course, this may change in the near future.

Applicants must have at least two years experience with a recognised Yoga teacher, from whom a recommendation or reference will be required - preferably in the form of a letter . They will also be required to join the British Wheel of Yoga (current membership cost is £22.50 p.a.) if not already a member.

The course consists of 10 x 7 hour sessions (10.00am to 5.00pm) spread over 6 months, with the first session taking place on Saturday 22 September 2007. Places on the course are limited according to BWY guidelines - prospective students should apply early to avoid disappointment.

The Course Fee will be £415.00 (payable to the Tutor), plus £40.00 course registration fee (payable to The British Wheel of Yoga). A non-returnable deposit of £150.00 will be required upon acceptance, to ensure a place on the course. The balance of the Course Fee (£265.00) will be due on or before 1 September 2007. Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

Students will need to have a copy of The Heart of Yoga by T. K. V. Desikachar (pub: Inner Traditions Intl.).
